Cheddar Gorge-eous

If you’re anything like me then you love riding motorcycles for the sense of freedom that you feel as well as the thrill and satisfaction you get from riding a twisty road well. You will also ride to seek out new places and to admire the amazing scenery some of the great motorcycle routes have to offer.

One such route is the road that runs through The Cheddar Gorge in the Mendip Hills in Somerset. The limestone gorge is almost 400 feet deep and 3 miles long and is estimated to have begun form during the last Ice Age. The gorge contains a spectacular cave system where Britain’s oldest complete human skeleton, Cheddar Man, estimated to be over 9,000 years old, was found in 1903. Older remains, dating back over 13,000 years have also been found.

The road runs through the gorge and offers spectacular limestone views of the limestone cliffs, popular with climbers and walkers a like. As mention the road is only 3 miles long, is tight and twisty and often packed with tourists on open top buses, so don’t go to Chedder Gorge is you’re looking for a fast traffic free ride. Instead go to see this amazing part of England and have an ice cream while you’re there ๐Ÿ™‚

Ok, the video below was filmed in the car using my phone so the quality isn’t that great compared with the GoPro but you can still appreciate the view ๐Ÿ˜‰
