I love Alpinstars Supertech R boots, so much so that I’m on my third set now. This is because I feel invincible while I’m wearing them. Ok maybe not invincible but I feel safe and secure and should the worst happen trust Alpinstars boots to look after my feet an ankles.
This is because the Supertech R boots are developed from the feedback from Alpinestars MotoGP riders such as Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lozenzo, Cal Crutchlow and Scot Redding.
The Supertech R use an inner and outer boot design. The outer boot has armour to protect the shin in the calf as well as removable toe sliders and a protective section on the area used for changing gears. Accordion stretch panels on the outer boot around the zip closure make it easy to get the bot on and off as well and making them comfortable for riding and walking around in off the bike. I’ve wore these bad boys for 12 hours without any problems on or off the bike.
The inner boot according to the literature on the Alpinestars website has a “bio-mechanical ankle brace” which constructed with fibreglass charged polyamide and lightweight, breathable 3D technical mesh for unrivalled riding comfort.”
Now as much as I love these boots, it’s not been all plain sailing with them. They are mostly white so they take a bit of work keeping them clean, although Alpinestars do other colours. Also there was a fault with this pair in the picture. The inner lace started to fray where it was rubbing through the eyelets after I had only worn them about a dozen times. As mentioned I’ve had three pairs of Supertech R’s and this is the first time I’ve ever had a problem with any of them. So I took them back to the shop I bought them who then sent them away to Alpinestars in Italy. Two weeks later I got my boot back all shiny and new again and ready to wear on the bike.
If you have a favourite pair of boots let me know what you think, if you have had any problems with them. In fact if you have a pair of boots you wouldn’t recommend let me know too 🙂
